Peter Thorpe (CFI)
Peter
has been gliding since the early 70's and instructing for almost as
long.
Vastly
experienced Peter provides a strong focus on club safety without
stilting adventure

Steve Wallace
Steve
commenced gliding in 1989 and is one of our club’s more experienced
cross country and competition pilots. He currently owns a Mosquito
15m glider in partnership with John Restall.Steve’s awards include
a Gold C, Diamond Height, Diamond Goal and he has been both a
Regional and two time National Champion flying in the Club
Class.When he is not out flying his glider Steve runs an audio
visual systems company.

Peter Coveney
Peter,
one of our B-cat instructors, has been gliding since 1970 having
been introduced to the sport by the Wigram Aviation Sports Club. He
is the owner of an LS4a glider, GKP and has recently entered his
first glider contest. Peter holds a Silver C and is co-holder of
the NZ Multi-seat Gain of Height record of more than 34,000 ft and
NZ Multi-seat Absolute Altitude of 37,108 ft set with Roger Read in
November 1987.

Andy McKay
Andy is a B Cat
Instructor, has about 350 hrs and is currently Club Secretary,
assisting Neville with general fleet
maintenance.

Neville Swan
Another
vastly experienced instructor Neville started gliding in 1963. He
has owned eight gliders, seven of them self launchers. (he must
hate tow-pilots)

Lionel Page
Lionel
is easily recognised by his South African accent and is a popular
B-cat instructor. He is also an experienced skydiver. Lionel , the
proud owner of a Mosquito is establishing himself as a cross
country pliot. Lionel’s accountancy skills are a great asset to the
club having been the Treasurer and still assisting in this
aspect.

Rex
Carswell
Rex commenced
gliding in 1977 with the Taupo Gliding Club and become an
instructor with the ASC in 1990.
He holds a 'B' Category Instructor Rating with aerobatic
endorsement and is presently Deputy CFI.
